In a 2007 Connecticut home invasion that occurred at the residence of Dr. William Petit, the doctor’s wife and two daughters were murdered at the hands of two paroled burglars. The second perpetrator, Joshua Komisarjevsky, will join his accomplice, Steven Hayes, on death row. The jury handed down their death penalty decision late last week.

The second case discussion will focus on the recent sentencing of former Governor Rod Blagojevich who received a sentence of 14 years for trying to sell President O’Bama’s senate seat. "At the time of his arrest, two years into his second term, court-authorized wiretaps caught Blagoyevich offering Obama’s Senate seat in exchange for favors, including a job with a non-profit or a union, corporate posts for his wife, campaign contributions or even a post in the Obama administration. In fact, he considered appointing himself to the open Senate seat, thinking that his indictment would go better as a sitting Senator than as a governor – plus the federal contacts he made as a Senator would benefit him down the road."   Holly on the Hill
