Monica Caison, ImaginePublicity
On a given misty morning Monica Caison finds time to contemplate a portion of the missing persons cases presented at one of the tour stops. This year will be no different, many of the names remain on the list of missing, but, as in years past, some will come home to their families as a result of the added attention. Some families will bond together in their common pain and be inspired to continue their personal journey to find their loved one and bring them home.

LISTEN LIVE:http://www.blogtalkradio.com/insidelenz

Segment 1:
In 1971 Joan Butterbach vanished and for almost 6 years her family had no idea where she was, or why she was gone.  In 1977, Mark Van Osdale, 16 at the time, was fishing on Lake Tainter when he saw something strange protruding through the surface of the water.  What he saw ended up being Joan Butterbach's car, with her body in the trunk.  According to the Dunn County Medical Examiner, Chris Kruse, "The car was rigged to propel itself into the water without a driver."
Guests include Christopher Kruse, Chief Medical Examiner for Dunn County Wisconsin, and family spokesperson and Crime Wire Director of Research, Kim Kolton.  Questions have been raised about the fact that some individuals knew about the submerged car, and what went wrong in the original investigation.
Segment 2:
On September 4, 2008, 33-year-old Daniel Ray Underwood, his girlfriend Rebecca Nelson, and a friend, Maria Harvick, were at a bar in East Fork, Texas. The three then went back to the home Daniel and Rebecca shared in Springs, Texas. According to Maria, once there, Daniel and Rebecca got into an argument and Maria left the room. A short time later she went back into the room and saw Daniel holding a shotgun in his right hand and accusing Rebecca of taking all his money and burying him in debt. Rebecca grabbed the gun and a struggle ensued. Maria again left the room, and a few seconds later she heard the gun go off. When she stepped back into the hallway she saw Daniel fall to the floor, mortally wounded.
Was Daniel’s death an accident, a suicide, or a homicide? The answer might depend on who you talk to and when.
Daniel's mother,Donna Underwood, and Maria Harvick bring listeners the latest updates about Daniel’s case and where it stands today.

Crime Wire Updates Nique' Leili, Gwinett County, GA Unsolved Homicide

You can hear Crime Wire Investigates beginning at 9 p.m. Eastern.

Please visit our Crime Wire Website.

Together we can make a difference.

LISTEN LIVE:http://www.blogtalkradio.com/insidelenz

In July, 2011, there was trouble in the Leili home with calls to the police, arguments and insinuation of past violence in the marriage of Matthew and Nique’ Leili.   Nique’ went missing on July 8, leaving behind her purse, keys, credit cards, and, most importantly, her children, her husband says there was an argument and she walked out of the house.

A week later, in the hot Georgia summer, her decomposing remains were found on July 16 less than a mile from her home, completely naked, face down in a shallow grave covered by leaves.  Her clothes have never been found.  Interestingly, her husband, Matthew Leili had already filed for divorce citing abandonment. How did he know she wasn’t coming back? Could it be because he had spy gadgets everywhere, including surveillance cameras, tape recordings of all phone conversations, keyloggers on all computers, and trackers on all cell phones? Seems he would have a pretty good idea where his wife was headed considering the lengths taken to keep track of her.

Named a suspect in the murder of Nique’, Matthew has not been arrested and no charges have been filed. He has since taken two of the couple’s young children and moved them out of state, isolating them from Nique’s family.

Joining the show for the hour to examine some of the known details of the case of murdered Nique’ Leili is her grown daughter, Alex Page, and sister, Amy Elk.

Allison Jackson Foy went missing from Wilmington, NC June 30, 2006 and her remains were recovered in April of 2008, along with another set of remains belonging to Angela Nobles Rothen, who went missing a year after Allison. This begins the long road towards justice for Allison, seeking answers, and bringing the perpetrator(s) to an arrest. Allison's sister, Lisa Valentino, works closely with CUE Center for Missing Persons, who conducted many searches and awareness campaigns in the years that Allison was missing, but the road didn't end there. Still working together to find a final resolution to the case and bring justice for Allison and the two young children she left behind, Lisa continues to work with opportunities to benefit CUE Center, as well as attends their National Conference each year, bringing her experience as a support to other families. Lisa Valentino, once again, brings awareness to the fact that there is still someone out in the community who murdered her sister, Allison, and may have murdered others and hid them as well.

Crime Wire Investigates! Missing Maura Murray and Leiby Kletzky Case

Tuesday, July 26 9pm ET

Listen LIVE:   Crime Wire Investigates

Missing Maura Murray

The disappearance of Maura Murray, a 21 year old nursing student at the University of Massachusetts who vanished after a single car accident on February 9, 2004 in Haverhill, NH. Local and State Police and a team of private investigators from the New Hampshire League of Investigators (NHLI) have pursued hundreds of leads in their efforts to locate Maura Murray.

John Healy, a retired Lieutenant with the NH State Police, and past president of the NHLI, is the lead private investigator in the case, and will join the Crime Wire Team to discuss the status of his team’s investigation of this perplexing mystery set in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

The Leiby Kletzky Murder

The recent gruesome killing and dismemberment of 8 year Leiby Kletzky shocked the tight-knit Hasidic community in Borough Park, in part because it is one of the safest sections of New York City and because the man under arrest for the crime is himself an Orthodox Jew.

The Crime Wire Team will review and analyze the puzzling circumstances of this horrible act. What went wrong, and how can such an atrocity be prevented in the future?

Unsolved Murder of 2 Boys

Note: Newspaper reports give the children's ages as 12 & 14. Their sister, Patricia Jackson, states they were nine and 12. We are using Patricia's numbers.

On September 23, 1990, brothers Derrick Jackson, age 9, and James Edwards, age 12,  were shot and killed by an intruder in their McKinney Street apartment in Vernon, Texas. The boys were asleep in the living room when the killer entered in the early morning hours. The assailant also shot their mother, Linda Jackson, in the head, but the bullet only grazed her. She was shot two more times as she attempted to get away, but managed to escape from the apartment. Another of Linda's sons, 23-year-old Raymond Jackson, who was asleep in a back bedroom, exited through a window when he heard the gunshots. He was not wounded in the attack. Police reports indicate no forced entry into the home.

Patricia Jackson states that Raymond has a drug history and believes he knows who committed the two murders. She and Raymond are not on speaking terms.

Linda has told Patricia that she can't remember anything about that night. And she is currently living with Raymond.

Missing Kelly Rothwell

We will be examining the case of missing Florida Police Cadet, Kelly Rothwell with Monica Caison of CUE Center for Missing Persons

On Wednesday, April 13th, missing Florida Police Cadet Kelly Roth will not be graduating with her class. The St. Pete Police Academy is scheduled to graduate its spring class of recruits. Kelly Rothwell's name is listed among the students, with the notation: "Not in attendance." There will be a candlelight vigil and prayer circle to honor Kelly Rothwell following the 6 p.m. graduation ceremony.

A month has passed since Kelly confronted David Perry. She didn't take anyone with her when she told the former New York Corrections Officer, it was over, she was ending their relationship. Maybe if she did, the outcome would be different. Violent offenders, in some situations, will back down and do nothing when someone else is watching. Had Kelly Rothwell brought a few friends to the condo that evening, the cowardly Perry would have tucked his tail between his legs and waited for another opportunity to catch her alone.  (http://murphymilanojournal.com)

Randy Wayne Leach: Still Missing

Randy Wayne Leach and his car, a 1985 gray Dodge 600, disappeared from Linwood, Kansas on the night of April 15/16, 1988, following a pre-graduation party at the home of Kim Erwin in rural Linwood. He was 17 years old.

According to his family, Randy, an only child, wasn’t selfish or self-centered. He was always willing to help others and do what he could for neighbors, friends and family. He was an upbeat, clean-cut and normal boy.
Although Randy never acted like he cared for school, his grades didn’t show it. He was always an honor student, or honorable mention as a B-student. He never had to study much to keep up.

His senior year could have been finished with an early out in January, but his parents, Harold and Alberta, talked to him and he decided to enjoy his last semester of the senior year. For a graduation present, his parents bought him the car of his dreams—a restored 1966, cherry-red Mustang.

Randy planned to earn some money mowing grass the next summer and help around the home doing odd jobs and possibly going to a trade school of some kind. He made no long-range plans, just wanting to enjoy the summer.

The day before Randy disappeared, he and his dad purchased a brand new John Deere lawn tractor for Randy’s summer jobs. Randy took the new mower and mowed four and a half hours on a contracted job in the afternoon. He came home then and mowed the family’s front lawn.

When Randy got ready to go out on April 15, 1988. His dad asked him if he had enough money. He said that he had enough, but if he dropped by Wal-Mart or K-Mart, he would like to get a bottle of water glass wax to put on his new tractor to hold the paint. The cost was around $15. Harold gave him a twenty. That gave Randy a total of approximately $50 to $60. He left in the family car, a gray 1985 Dodge 600, four-door sedan with license plate number LVJ 8721. The time was approximately 6:45 p.m.

Randy eventually went to Linwood and rode around town with Steve Daughtery. When later interviewed, Steve said he bought a six-pack of beer, but Randy declined to have any. The two drove to DeSoto at about 8:30 p.m. They went to the body shop where Randy’s Mustang was being restored. Randy took Steve to show off his car. The man at the body shop said that they were drinking beer and offered some to Randy, but Randy turned it down again.

By 9:30, Randy and Steve were back in Linwood, where Randy dropped Steve off. Randy went to Stout’s Corner, a convenience store. Four or five people reported having talked to Randy there. They all said he was joking and acting normal. He bought two candy bars, two Pepsis, and $3 worth of gas. It was Randy's habit of putting back into the vehicle the gas that he thought he would use in an evening. Therefore, the family didn’t think he planned to travel very far.

Randy went to the party between 9:45 and 10:00. Randy's cousin and others who were at the party said Randy could hardly walk. The cousin later stated that Randy didn't smell of alcohol and he didn't think Randy was drunk.

So what happened to Randy in the 30 or so minutes from when he was acting normal at the convenience store and when he was observed at the party barely to walk? One story that subsequently circulated is that someone put a drug called Thorazine in Randy’s drink at the party. However, it turned out that the person suspected of spiking Randy's drink wasn't at the party.

A friend of Randy who arrived at the party at midnight, later said he was around Randy off and on. He didn’t see him drink anything, but Randy wasn't acting right.. At one point, he said, “Randy, what’s wrong?” Randy said, “Man, I don’t know what’s wrong.”

Another friend, James Burns, reported helping Randy to his car at 1:30 a.m. Unable to find the car keys, Randy laid down in the front seat. James went with his brother, John Burns, to give a girl a ride home who'd had too much to drink. When they returned between 2:00 and 2:10 a.m., Randy and his car were gone.
However, two other people said they saw Randy at the Erwin house as late as 2:15, waiting in line to go to the bathroom. Mrs. Erwin said she told him to go outside, claiming she didn’t want him to fall in the house and hurt himself.

At 6 a.m., Randy’s mom awoke to find Randy missing. The panicked parents were barefoot in the driveway, when Harold spotted Steve Daugherty drive by their house on Highway 32. Harold later said that it seemed odd because it was so early Saturday and Daugherty was only driving, “about 10 miles per hour,'” where the posted speed limit was 55 mph.

After Harold and Alberta reported Randy missing, a massive air, river and ground search was launched. But neither Randy or the car were ever found.

Following Randy's disappearance, rumors swirled. According to one of them, there was another young man with Randy when he stopped at the convenience store at 9:30 p.m. The man was identified by witnesses as Jim Hadle - possibly spelled Hadley - who was Steve Daugherty’s roommate. Hadle was reportedly seen sitting in Randy's car. Word got back to the Leach family that both Daugherty and Hadle were drug users who had spent time in jail. Harold Leach contends that investigators never talked to Hadle. And that when Hadle later came to their house, he denied even knowing Daugherty. Both Hadle and Daugherty subsequently passed away, supposedly of natural causes.

As time went by, Internal police reports about Randy's case began showing up in the Leaches' mailbox. Harold says he doesn't know the source of the documents, but believes they were from sympathetic officers who were convinced the investigation was botched.

In 1993, a man purporting to be a "research journalist" offered his assistance to the Leaches and spent several months without pay interviewing partygoers and others who might have known something about the case. The man went by the names of Terry Martin and Lee Harper. Martin/Harper pooled information with Leavenworth County Sheriff's Detective Dawn Weston, whom had been assigned to review the case.

Executing warrants issued by the assistant Leavenworth County Attorney, Weston arrested three men for the alleged kidnapping and murder of Randy Leach. The men were quickly released. The sheriff explained, "She was a new investigator and overzealous, so to speak. It didn't pan out when the evidence was double-checked by the county attorney."

As of this writing, Randy Wayne Leach remains missing and the case is cold. Someone still alive knows what happened to him on the night of April 15/16, 1988. If you are that person or know who is, it's time to step forward and help bring resolution to the Leach family.

If you have any information about this case please contact Leach family spokesperson Cindy Hutchison at cindy.hutchison@yahoo.com.

Crime Wire: Tuesday September 21, 2010 at 9:00 PM EST

Tonight on Crime Wire:
Gang violence allegedly claimed the life of an innocent victim in Modesto, California at about 1 a.m. on August 24, 2003. Lacy Ferguson, a 25-year-old single mother, was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
According to local authorities, Lacy and her boyfriend, John Ritchie, were in a convenience store parking lot located in an area that has experienced gang activity in the past. Suddenly shots rang out, catching them by surprise. The shooters were in a dark colored vehicle that cruised slowly through the parking lot. The police believe there were at least two Hispanic males in the car, and that their target was a gang-banger named Adrian Vega. Neither Lacy nor John knew Vega; they just happened to be passing by his parked car. John and Lacy were struck by bullets. Fortunately for John, his wounds were not life-threatening. But Lacy’s were fatal. Although there were several witnesses to the incident, no arrests were made and the case remains unsolved.

However, Lacy's mother, Boni Driskill, has not given up on getting justice for Lacy. She has worked tirelessly to keep the story alive and in the public eye. Boni is president of Wings of Protection, a victim’s advocacy group that she co-founded with Susan Levy, the mother of Chandra Levy, the intern murdered in Washington, DC in 2001, and Donna Raley, step-mother of Dena Raley McClusky, who went missing in October 1999. Dena’s body was found eight years later.

Brian Sullivan disappeared early in the morning of July 8, 2007. According to reports, the a 19-year-old Churchville-Chili High graduate had spent the previous evening watching a movie at a friend’s house, then bought breakfast at the drive-through of a Chili Avenue Burger King. Investigators found a receipt for the food stamped with the time of 5:38 a.m. in Brian’s car. The red 1995 Pontiac Sunfire was found in front of a 100-acre wooded area on nearby Lettington Avenue.

The story made all the local news outlets, and family members passed out or hung posters bearing Brian’s smiling picture and asking for help in the search. When the search didn’t turn up useful leads, the Sheriff’s Office turned to the New York Branch of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children for additional help.

Joining us is Brian’s mother Barbara Sullivan and Monica Caison founder of the non-profit CUE Center for Missing Persons, which is focused on finding the missing, advocating for their causes, and supporting their families.

Offering a wide range of free services, CUE has since helped more than 8,700 families in what is often the most confusing and desperate times of their lives. In addition to providing services for the missing and their families, CUE offers college internships and youth mentoring programs.
