Recently the headlines touted a large sweep across 77 cities in the US as FBI and local law enforcement agencies rescued 105 underage minors from the grip of human trafficking. Also arrested in the raid were 150 pimps. Has this annual raid made a dent in the national problem? Hardly. While it's admirable that 105 children have been rescued, there are thousands that have already taken their place on the streets being sold to anyone with the money to pay for sex.

Questions now arise from the general public who have limited knowledge of the magnitude of the issue of sex trafficking and how it's impacting every city and town in the world. They want to know many things, including "how does this happen?"

Dottie Laster, Laster Global Consulting,Human Trafficking,ImaginePublicityDottie Laster of Laster Global Consulting and the Bernardo Kohler Center will be on hand for the hour to answer questions and  impart important information for every family to learn.

Laster has explained that cases coming to her have shifted in focus during the last year. While usually dealing with a lot of vulnerable and marginalized people who have been rescued from captivity, she's being contacted by upscale, stable families reporting their children have been lured into the sex trade. How does this happen to well adjusted, academically successful kids?

Dottie Laster explains the “Romeo pimp and how he/she is able to literally invade the thought processes of otherwise intelligent youth, usually girls, using standard seduction techniques until he has her thinking she is in a loving relationship. She has written extensively on the subject and has given numerous presentations to high school and college students in an all out effort to educate them about the dangers, red flags, and proper reporting procedures.
“Human trafficking, and how it claims it’s victims, is one of the most critical messages our youth needs to hear in order to become aware of the tactics traffickers use; to lure them into dangerous situations, how they gain their trust, leading them into a world they never knew existed.”

Dottie Laster is a nationally recognized expert in the field of human trafficking. She has been trained by the Department of Justice to train law enforcement on human trafficking. She has been the architect and leader of human trafficking task forces and coalitions in many cities in Texas and California. In her career she has been directly and indirectly responsible for the rescue and service of over 200 victims of trafficking in the United States. She is credentialed to practice immigration law through the Bernado Kohler Center.

Dottie Laster is featured in the documentary on sex trafficking in Latin bars and cantinas, The Cantinera, and will be the subject of an upcoming television show tentatively titled Project Red Light. She has been the subject of many articles in Texas MonthlyMORE Magazine, and most recently Town Hall MagazineShe is the recipient of numerous awards, including the "Hero Award" from Youth for Human Rights International in 2013.

Dottie Laster is available to give presentations to all grade levels and classes, as well as law enforcement and government agencies, organizations, churches and community groups.
