Guest, Beverly Simcic, is the author of the new book Who Killed Chrissy?

Crime Wire, ImaginePublicityWho Killed Chrissy? is the story of two young women from Pittsburgh—Beverly Simcic and Christine Casilio—who went to Las Vegas in June of 1982 for a vacation and to check out employment opportunities. Just weeks later, on June 25, Christine’s body was found decomposing in the bathroom of her small studio apartment. The homicide remains unsolved to this day.
Beverly was interviewed by Las Vegas Metro detectives at the time. But in the over 30 years since, she hasn’t shared her knowledge of events surrounding her friend’s death with the public until now.
A miracle, a vision, a premonition, and an unsolved death in Las Vegas, have hung in my memory like a broken antique for the last twenty-four years of my life. I’ve had that long to think about the reason it all happened in the first place and why I was drawn to, and ultimately placed in the old apartment building on Riverview Avenue in Pittsburgh. If you believe that nothing happens by accident, or if you have lost your faith, this true story of fate and divine intervention will shed a bright light on all the possibilities…
I’ve had this true story locked in my mind since June of 1982. I have never told this story to anyone—for reasons of paralyzing fear and the fact that the murder has never been solved.

Please join us as we try to answer the question: Who Killed Chrissy?

In July, 2011, there was trouble in the Leili home with calls to the police, arguments and insinuation of past violence in the marriage of Matthew and Nique’ Leili.   Nique’ went missing on July 8, leaving behind her purse, keys, credit cards, and, most importantly, her children, her husband says there was an argument and she walked out of the house.

A week later, in the hot Georgia summer, her decomposing remains were found on July 16 less than a mile from her home, completely naked, face down in a shallow grave covered by leaves.  Her clothes have never been found.  Interestingly, her husband, Matthew Leili had already filed for divorce citing abandonment. How did he know she wasn’t coming back? Could it be because he had spy gadgets everywhere, including surveillance cameras, tape recordings of all phone conversations, keyloggers on all computers, and trackers on all cell phones? Seems he would have a pretty good idea where his wife was headed considering the lengths taken to keep track of her.

Named a suspect in the murder of Nique’, Matthew has not been arrested and no charges have been filed. He has since taken two of the couple’s young children and moved them out of state, isolating them from Nique’s family.

Joining the show for the hour to examine some of the known details of the case of murdered Nique’ Leili is her grown daughter, Alex Page, and sister, Amy Elk.

Double Unsolved Homicide of Kenneth Kanehl and Pamela Barnes

Seven years after the 2005 murders of Kenneth Kanehl and Pamela Barnes, there have been no arrests or charges, and although much speculation and suspicion, naming of the main suspects will be a shock. The pattern of conduct of persons close to the deceased has raised many questions by the families and those left behind in this awful tragedy.  Why have investigators let this slide?

Overview from guest,Jessie Kanehl, stepmother of Kenneth Kanehl:

On July 3, 2005, Kenneth Kanehl, 39 and Pamela Barnes, 41 were murdered in their home on the 5400 block of Brunswick, Waterford, MI.  Their bodies were discovered on Wednesday, July 6, 2005.  They were both shot in the head multiple times.  Kenny was off on vacation that week so his absence at work did not concern anyone.  On either Tuesday or Wednesday, Pam's boss called her mother to notify her that Pamela did not show up for work on Tuesday.   Monday was the 4th of July Holiday.  Kenny and Pam were last seen at a friend's house where they went for a 4th of July party and then to fireworks late Saturday night.  They were killed in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 3rd.  Pamela's mom, Carolyn Barnes, called the Waterford Police Department on Wednesday, July 6th to do a welfare check at their home.  The police arrived there at approximately 5 p.m. and found their bodies.

Kenny and Pamela each had teenage daughters from previous relationships. One lived at the home, the other visited often. One has been affected seriously over the tragedy, the other has moved on and doing well.  What are the circumstances that connect a daughter and her father to the murders? Tune in for details as this double unsolved murder is discussed by the Crime Wire Team.

Allison Jackson Foy went missing from Wilmington, NC June 30, 2006 and her remains were recovered in April of 2008, along with another set of remains belonging to Angela Nobles Rothen, who went missing a year after Allison. This begins the long road towards justice for Allison, seeking answers, and bringing the perpetrator(s) to an arrest. Allison's sister, Lisa Valentino, works closely with CUE Center for Missing Persons, who conducted many searches and awareness campaigns in the years that Allison was missing, but the road didn't end there. Still working together to find a final resolution to the case and bring justice for Allison and the two young children she left behind, Lisa continues to work with opportunities to benefit CUE Center, as well as attends their National Conference each year, bringing her experience as a support to other families. Lisa Valentino, once again, brings awareness to the fact that there is still someone out in the community who murdered her sister, Allison, and may have murdered others and hid them as well.

Crime Wire Investigates: Oklahoma Unsolved

You can hear Crime Wire Investigates beginning at 9 p.m. Eastern.

Also, please visit our Crime Wire Website.

Together we can make a difference.

LISTEN LIVE: http://blogtalkradio.com/crimewire

On June 8, 2008 the tiny town of Weleetka, Oklahoma was rocked to it’s core when two young girls, Skyla Whitaker, 11, and Taylor Placker, 13, best friends, were found shot to death while walking along County Line Rd.   The tragic case brought immediate national media attention and an aggressive investigation, OSBI and FBI included.  Hundreds of tips and suspects later, the case may be closer to a resolution as agents are honing in on a specific gun purchased at a gun show.
On July 15, 2011, Ashley Celeste Taylor, 23, was reported missing from Okmulgee, OK, a town near Weleetka, supposedly after an argument with her fiance, Kevin Sweat.  Sweat was subsequently arrested and confessed to her murder, telling officials that her remains were buried off of Highway 75.  In early August, 2011, searchers found human bone fragments, pieces of clothing and glasses consistent with Ashley’s on the property of Kevin Sweat’s father, near Weleetka.
The investigators are now turning a closer eye to the theory that Kevin Sweat could be responsible for the slaying of the young girls along with his fiance, Ashley Taylor.  New information is being discovered daily.
Listeners will hear first hand information about the connections between these unsolved cases and the people surrounding them, in the hope that the pieces of the puzzle are fit together to bring resolution.

The Sheena Morris Unsolved Death in Bradenton Florida

Tonight, August 2, 2011, on the Crime Wire Investigates radio show, as part of our on going flame to justice, we discussed the death and lack of investigation in the unsolved death of Sheena Morris.

On January 1, 2009, the 22-year old was found hanging from a shower in a hotel room located in Anna Marie Island, Florida. Sheena was ending the relationship with her on again off again boyfriend, telling her mother it was coming to an end and things were going to change in the New Year.

It is important to note that a victim of intimate partner violence, never takes their own life as we would learn during the show; often they figure out the best way to move forward minus the violence and live their lives, not take their life! This was not a suicide as initially ruled. Basically, no investigation was done by Bradenton detectives and the crime scene was mishandled. The medical examiner's office relied on those who responded to the scene, and with limited information and incorrect police reports, each a contributing factor in the initial ruling for this case as a suicide.

It would be Kelly Osborn, Sheena's mother, that would gather evidence and information, along with hiring outside forensic pathologists Dr. Michael Baden and Dr. Michael Berkland, that would allow theFlorida medical examiner to change the manner of death in March of 2011 to "undetermined." That should have been enough to re-open the case, but it was not. Public comments in media interviews labeling Kelly Osborn as a mere "grieving mother" are inexcusable.

In addition, 10 months after Sheena's death, the detective contacted the person of interest and informed him that "he is going to contact his alibi" for the evening in question. This action, in and of itself, is a huge ethics issue. It goes to credibility and can hurt future cases within the department, the county, and for the FDLE.

There were other issues and red flags of importance discussed about this case. The FDLE must takethe lead and step in to investigate. Until they do, we (Crime Wire) will continue to take appropriate measures in the murder investigation and ultimate justice for Sheena Morris. Below is the link to the Crime Wire show.
